Sleep Apnea Symptoms
Sleep apnea is characterized as snoring and choking, gasping, or silent breathing during sleep, which leads the brain to signal your body to wake and readjust. You may not remember this, but this can happen hundreds of times each night. Left untreated sleep apnea can increase the risk of heart attack, diabetes, memory loss, stroke, mood disorders, weight gain, and daytime exhaustion.
• Snoring or gasping for Air
• Consistently being tired during the day
• Waking up in the middle of the night
• Using the bathroom during sleep
• Daytime exhaustion
• Difficulty with memory or irritability
Luckily, most forms of sleep apnea can be successfully managed by a comfortable and easy-to-use oral appliance that helps maintain an open airway while you sleep. This will improve your breathing and reduce or eliminate snoring. Another common treatment is the usage of a breathing mask (CPAP) device that keeps a constant airflow.
Sleep apnea is diagnosed with a sleep study. Once diagnosed, most patients are presented with a CPAP machine, which is the gold standard
If you’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea and cannot tolerate the CPAP machine, we have an oral appliance that can help and is much less cumbersome.
Better Sleep Bothell is dedicated to helping you get the best possible sleep.
